Training That Fulfills the Modified NREMT Recertifications
With course cancellations and university shutdowns across the nation, EMS recertifications will look a little different in 2020.
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) made significant modifications to current recertifications, extending the deadline for EMS personnel from March 31 to June 30, 2020. In addition, the NREMT has waived the distributive education limits for the remainder of the recertification cycle.
“Given the dynamic nature of this global pandemic, the focus of our nation’s EMS personnel should remain on personal well-being, patient safety, and supporting their communities in need,” said Bill Seifarth, Executive Director of the National Registry.
At this time when emergency responders across the country are sacrificing their time to protect our communities, CareerCert is committed to providing you with the flexible online options you need to stay certified and build the skills you need to improve outcomes.
Classes That Work Around Your Schedule
We know your time is valuable. After working extra shifts or staying late to learn the latest protocols, the last thing you need is to worry about when or how you’ll have time to stay on top of your recertifications. At CareerCert, we understand the pressures you face, and we’re grateful for all you are doing to keep our communities safe. That’s why we’ve designed our training to fit around your needs and schedule.
As the NREMT notes, “registrants who have not yet completed the recertification requirements are reminded that (F5) Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) courses satisfy the requirements for instructor-led training and can be accomplished outside of classroom environments.”
Through the end of June, CareerCert will offer all of the virtual instructor-led courses required for:
- a paramedic or EMT refresher on a weekly basis.
- an EMR or AEMT refresher every two weeks.
- a CCT refresher monthly.
To access these courses you simply need to create or log into your account and view them under our “Live Course Calendar.” All of CareerCert’s courses are CAPCE-accredited, follow NREMT guidelines, and are taught by industry experts.
In addition to our VILT courses, CareerCert has more than 300 hours of self-paced courses that you can easily access on your phone from anywhere and at any time. You can fit in a few CEs at the station or on your day off, and if you get interrupted, you can leave the course and come back right where you left off.
Whether you need an entire refresher, just a few self-paced courses, or those last final VILT courses, we’ve got you covered. Our team is here to help you. If you have any questions about what these new modifications mean for you, please reach out to us at email@example.com. We’d love to help simplify your recertifications and provide you with the tools you need to improve outcomes. We know that when you are at your best, your patients are too.
For more about the NREMT modifications, see their summary of these changes below:
- All certifications with an expiration date of March 31, 2020 will remain valid until June 30, 2020.

- There will be no late fees for submissions after March 31, 2020.
